Back in the saddle

It’s been a hot minute since we’ve been able to ride! And when I say a hot minute, I mean a hot dumpster fire minute! Between being busy with work, being sick, weather, house projects, family and many other things, we’ve been out for a while. But, the weather is getting nicer, health is good and the rest has gotten a little better.

We took a little ride recently and it did not disappoint. It was a Gabbert ride and could not have been more perfect. I know we had some good conversational items but I don’t recall them enough to put them down.

The hills are alive…

….with the sounds of motorcycles 😊

We took a run for the hills today and landed in Coleman, TX for the night. We went through Leakey, Brady and Coleman. Home tomorrow and hopefully it will be as beautiful a day at it was today.

Some random comments from the day :

*I’m glad those turkeys kept going instead of changing their minds like they usually do.

*Was that a fox or coyote? (pretty sure it was a coyote)

*What kind of mother %#$&ing convoy is this!

*I think that was my turn!

*Incoherent babbling as Bryan passed a slow care but there were rubber rivets between the stripes in the road.

*Well it’s a Gabbert ride now, we’re in the projects!

And the pièce de resistance so far…Aren’t you proud of me? I didn’t pass them 😁

Back in the saddle again!

Finally some time to ride ! We started off with a good breakfast.

Then headed West, where the West Texas scenery never lets us down. Stopped for a good lunch and found what could be one of our spirit animals while there. We visited a few cool historical places and continued on to our destination for the night.

Weather was fabulous! Cold and chilly most of the day but still sunshine enough to give us a little sunburned nose.

Paddle faster ….
We’ve stayed in some interesting places but these mirrors have us laughing so hard!

When riding plans fall apart

The past couple of weekends we have been trying to go for an overnight ride. Things have not worked out for that to happen. First it was weather then it was my son getting hurt in a soccer game. So we’ve just taken a few one day quick rides. Today we had no plans to get up with an alarm but had planned to ride. We picked a place for breakfast and ended up finding our local HOG (Harley Owners Group) chapter there too! Then we went on our way only to stop for gas and to have some other friends that saw us on the highway pull up and say “follow us to our ranch and we’ll give you a tour, the bike will make it no problem!” So off we go. First turn off the highway was a caliche road so instant Gabbert kind of ride! Then we go through the fence and it’s rocky caliche truck tire trail! So for sure a Gabbert kind of ride! Then it opened up and we got in the truck and given a tour around their property which is really nice! It was a nice stop and on our way we went for a cool breezy ride home. Thanks Julian and Diana!

Ear Plug Review

So Bryan has always used ear plugs but I have not. Going on 6-7 years of riding and I used ear plugs for the first time a few months ago. Many of friends who ride use the brightly colored foam ear plugs but Bryan has used many types – the bright colored foam ear plugs, personal molded ear plugs and the ear plugs from Ear Peace. I purchased a set of the Ear Peace motorcycle ear plugs and wow what a difference it makes in your ride experience!

These ear plugs come with 3 ear plugs – they give you a spare just in case, 3 different levels of protection and case for easy carry. I have gone through all levels of protection and have found that the middle level is the best one for me. The reduction in wind noise is the most significant affect I have had from the using the ear plugs. We have ridden quite a bit since I started using these ear plugs and have gone from the middle level, to the lowest level, to no ear plugs, to the highest level and back to the middle level. Your hearing is muffled quite a bit with or without your helmet on from having no ear plugs in with or without your helmet on but down here in S Texas where every ride is windy, with several degrees of windy down here from just a little windy to trees whipping around, it has made a significant difference in how beat up I feel after a ride.

If you’re looking for a budget friendly alternative to the cheap of the cheap ear plugs to the molded personally for you these are a good choice at $20.
