It’s hot!

We haven’t been able to ride much lately – work, weather, lake house work, Covid-19….😑

So we had a Five Points Chapter meeting in Victoria Thursday night and we were both off Friday so I suggested we get a room Thursday night and keep going for the weekend 😊

We made our way into East Texas to Texarkana back West across North Texas to Mineral Wells and home Sunday afternoon with lots of stops along the way picking up some POI’s for the Motorcycle Grand Tour of Texas.

We got sunburned, had cool mornings and hot & sweaty afternoons, good food, a few grooved pavement stretches of road, lots of logging trucks on Friday in East Texas, great restaurants with good food, awesome accommodating hotels, a forgotten traveling fan and a new one, a quick helmet fix, hot hot and hot the closer we got to home but all in all it was a great quick get away for some us time after being at home with our old enough children for 9 weeks during this virus time.

Ride envy 😑

This happens when you’re sitting in the truck at the convenience store waiting for your husband to come out. All of a sudden you hear a bike start behind you. You turn to look. Then you see it, a couple on a bike with their luggage strapped to the tour pack. You stare in jealousy saying to yourself “Hey, where y’all going?”

We had planned to ride across Texas this weekend but then the weather forecast turned I to gloom and doom and then wasn’t as bad as expected. We took a short ride Saturday and pouted about our missed weekend ride.

Just a little ride down the road

We took a little ride yesterday. Met some new people. Had some good food. In true ride fashion it eventually turned into a typical Gabbert ride.

Some words said during the ride included but definitely were not limited to 😳😁😉:

It’s cold, it’s a little windy, this is a nice road, my taint bone is hurting, you don’t have a taint bone Bryan, my ass bone is hurting, you have a pelvis and coccyx, my coccyx is up there going numb, 🤔🤦🏻‍♀️, what happened to the sun?, pavement ends!?, oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh, aaahhhh!, I think my blood sugar just bottomed out, I need to pee, sketchy sketchy sketchy, make sure everything works, pavement ends again!?, want to go the back way?, yes please

We started out of Corpus just after 7 am and met up with the Five Points HOG Chapter at the Victoria Harley Davidson. We left there about 9:30 am and headed for Murphy’s Steakhouse in Winchester via back roads. On our way back home to CC we did some Five Points HOG Chapter Challenge stops. The roads were nice with some good curves and nice pavement until the highway road construction ended the pavement and had some slicker than owl s&$t caliche to go through. Thanks Pop for all of your Truman-isms, we use them almost daily ❤️

All in all it was a full day of riding that we haven’t done in a long time, can’t wait to do it again!

Get out and ride

My sweet baboo, cool morning, clear skies, sunshine, and the open road….❤️

The Empresario in Goliad for lunch was our destination and it was perfect. The ride home took us down a backroad we’ve never been down before. Conversation went like this and then changed to our usual chatter about random things:

B: Never been down this road before

Me: It’s a Gabbert ride now

B: Hey the road looks good

Me: So far

B: But who knows it could turn to dirt or caliche or even end

Me: Exactly 😑

Turned into a really nice ride with some curves and lots of horses and cattle with calves hanging out on this cool sunny day.

Sunday Gabbert ride

Took a little ride this morning in the fog and mist! Almost turned into a very interesting ride with a wet and slickery caliche road that Bryan decided not to take, thank goodness! Instead it turned into a great morning ride with the one I ❤️❤️❤️!

Easy like Sunday morning

Took a little ride this morning to the metropolis of Orange Grove for a nice cool ride and some good food at Michael and Mom’s. Made a little ride around the lake and back home. Perfection.

It’s getting to be nice riding weather…..almost

In S Texas we have weather that enables us to ride year round. However, it is hotter than blue blazes during the Summer and when you pair that with the humidity it is just unbearable most of the warm months. Then it starts to cool down and you get those nice mornings that make you think “This is nice!” and then the heat sets in and you end up with a massive case of swamp ass and a mouth so dry you wish you were an Indian long ago on a journey and that you had a rock to put in your mouth to suck on and pretend it’s good.

We went to Moulton and had lunch at H&H Cafe in Yoakum and then home. Nice morning but awful afternoon.
