So here in Roswell for the 75th anniversary of the crash and spent a day exploring while doing a scavenger hunt for alien things, a fun, and inappropriate at times, trip through the Area 51 exhibit and then we spent some days riding the area and going to a few historical sites. We enjoyed nice temps on our riding days, scenic routes, met some locals that gave some roads to ride that turned into pretty good advice, some rain, good food at local places and some big bugs!
Here’s a sampling of some of the things said these past few days:
I’d probe that – Kyle and Jamie are sure taking a long time at that one – No Bryan, it goes here – Settle the fuck down – Big bump – Where are we going again? – Is that rain? – Was that a bug? – No it was a buzzard! (This was when Bryan took a huge grasshopper to the face while riding the back roads).

We left Roswell, NM under cloud cover this morning and it was a nice cool morning. We had some rise in temps, winds and a nice little rain shower that cooled us down as we made our way into W. Texas.
I would love to say it was fun, but W Texas you are a miserable place in the Summer. The smell of gas, oil, dirt, asphalt then rain – glorious rain – because it cooled us down….for a short time and even fire as we passed a small roadside grass fire thst we had to dodge the flames of. Then you tried to boil us!
Del Rio came in clutch for our overnight place after we made a very happy stop in Comstock at an open Cafe – J&P Bar and Grill, you’re truly an oasis in the desert.
Final push tomorrow for home! Always enjoy our trips with good company, Jamie and Kyle y’all are too much fun, but it’s always nice to get home too!
We left Corpus Christi Thursday morning and arrived in Fort Davis to our hotel being closed 🤦🏻♀️ Luckily the place next door, The Harvard Hotel, had 2 rooms available and a restaurant. We were set.
West Texas did not disappoint either! While the hottest temp we saw was 101° we kept hydrated and were able to get through the heat! The grandeur of the mountains are just spectacular and will never get old. Had lunch in Langtry, neat but kind of sketchy hole in the wall, you would never know of this place if you didn’t already know of this place kind of place. Let’s just say I’m glad I cut my hamburger in half and that I ate real good at dinner!
Thursday night we drove up to the McDonald’s Observatory for a star gazing party. We got a little lesson on the stars and constellations as well as being able to look through five different high powered telescopes at some pretty amazing stars, star clusters and one dead star. The pitch black night at the top of the mountain and the amount of stars you get to see is very impressive. The ride down the twisty road in this same pitch black night on motorcycles was not impressive, especially when I was able to smell the rain from a nearby storm. We made it back to our hotel dry, thank goodness, and only saw one deer, again, thank goodness! Oh and Bryan kept talking like Marvin the Martian and pissing off the nerdy astronomers handling the telescopes.
Bryan, in his best Marvin the Martian voice: Q36
Nerdy astronomer dude, fed up with Bryan’s bullshit while waiting to look through the telescope: M13!
This morning we headed for Roswell, NM. It was a nice cool morning, but it warmed up pretty quick. We made it into Van Horn on fumes in the gas tanks because the guys wanted to see how far they could make the bikes go. Seriously though, that little light shined for a good 15 miles at least! Breakfast was great and we were on the road again! Made a stop to stretch and use the facilities, that happens, especially when it was Mexican for breakfast! One more stop for gas and into Roswell we went.
Lots of people are here for the 75th anniversary of the “incident” and Bryan is on the lookout for the guys from Ancient Aliens. He’s going fanboy on me!
We’ll see what the next 3 days bring and takes us to as we take some day trips around the area!
$%#&ing construction! It’s a Gabbert ride now!Bryan said the Sanderson water tower is supposed to be historical or famous….for something Harvard Hotel, Ft. DavisGood morning sunshine!Rickey would be proud of him for cleaning up the bike a little while on the road 😊Kyle and Jamie 🎶This little light of mine …🎵Edu-Gator is having an awesome Summer!
