The typical Tales ride

So today took us to Victoria for lunch at Mumphord’s Place BBQ – good stuff and great people here! We had lunch, went by the Victoria Harley shop and then headed for home. A couple of trucks pulled out in front of us on the highway out and my tour guide knowing good and well that I had never really toured that area decided that a side road leading off to who know’s where was a good road to check out. And so began our adventure for the day and the beginning of today’s Tale. At first it was a little sketchy and I told my tour guide that he was taking us “where the hill’s have eyes” and then it turned into some beautiful fields and slow roads and then we came back out on the highway and made our way home. As always, a great ride and I wouldn’t have done it different!

This is why….

I call my blog Tales from the Back of the Bike!

We just went on a 3 day trip and rode approximately 2,300 miles from S. Texas to W. Texas to the Panhandle and back home. We rode through some tough winds and cold weather that kept us in our leather gear all day every day. We dodged tumble weeds, a few birds, other vehicles and a tarp blowing across a property as we turned a corner on a back country road that my hubby did not see until it was right on us, thankfully it stopped just short of being in the road. And it’s these back country roads that make our rides into adventures. Somehow it never fails that the GPS that these rides are created with instructions to keep us out of the middle of big cities likes to take us on zig zag jaunts that let you get enough speed up to go through your gears only to shut you down because a turn is coming up and not some long sweeping bad a$$ curve either, they’re typically hard turns or tight curves. Like any other girl I love all the speed, SMALL humps that give you a little air off your seat if any and those long sweeping curves but it all still gets my stomach in my throat and I hang on for dear life and squeeze my honey with my legs (which we all know he likes) but I also enjoy just hanging out in my seat taking pictures and videos and day dreaming. These last things are usually interrupted by said turns and curves because I am just back there in my little world doing what I do and usually makes for some good laughs between us. We always get home wiped out and exhausted but ready for the next ride. So….get out there and have fun, sometimes you have to let your hair down and enjoy life with no inhibitions and that is what being on the back of the bike does for me.

Everybody’s Somebody….

in Luckenbach, Texas

We started riding with the Corpus Christi HOG Chapter in 2013.

Our first long ride was an April 2014 weekend ride to the Hill Country for a wild flower ride. Now Bryan is the Chapter Director and I am the Activities and Ladies of Harley Officer.
